Oh yeah... Ektomorf=Soulfly ^^

There is Replika too, although I have to confess the lyrics have a much bigger impact if you can understand them. The music somehow became too predictable after a while...but anyway Krishnacore FTW! :D

This topic is a very nice idea ! It's always hard to know bands from other countries if they're not already known in the neighbourhood !

Check out my band - we're Polish, but we don't play death metal.
Well, ok, there's some death metal stuff, but people call us symphonic/folk/gothic, whatever. It's probably because we use a lot of clean vocals, cello, violin and also some ethnic instruments like hurdy gurdy or whistles. Mind you, we are not Eluveitie wannabies either...

You are going to find manymany BrutalDeath/Goregrind Bands from Eastern Europe, its like the whole genre would have its headquarter from Czech Republic to Russia.

Besides that, some cool stuff that comes to mind is:

NEGURA BUNGET from Romania, if you dont know them already. kinda experimental/proggy black metal.

RAVENTALE from Ukraine - cool mix of funeral doom with a bit of black metal.

STEREOCHRIST - something like Hungarys answer to Down?

HAW - Stereochrist members...kinda like...uhm..Hungarys answer to Down? wait...dejavue..

Started of with heavy Meshuggah influences but slowly "evolved" into something different. Still good though, maybe one of the best metal bands here. They sing in hungarian although I think there are some songs they wrote in english, don't know if they are still available though.

:yesway: And also are they super nice guys, we played with them and had lots of fun together.

Most of the notable Eastern European bands I'm aware of are NSBM cunts, sadly. I bet they all hate Negura Bunget for being better than them.

Lots of good grind/PxVx/Crust about there too, though.

Jesus Cröst
Suffering Mind
Selfhate

Are some top picks.

I only know one song by them, but it's pretty badass IMO. Dominia, a Russian band.

If poland counts, let me state the obvious ones:

Basically, lots of death metal, a lot of it being blackened.

If we're getting as far as Greece and Germany then we're gonna get an eruption of names thrown in here...

I thought Greece might not count, but I wanted to bump the thread anyway. For someone who goes to a festival in Slovenia every year, I should really remember more than this
