As I Lay Dying, from "An Ocean Between Us" onward. Shadows Are Security was great, but I was blown away by how much they'd left the "-core" behind (ie, breakdowns) on Ocean. I've been thoroughly pleased with their past three (full length) albums and hope they continue in this direction.

Grave, they're old school death metal and still old school death metal but their stuff still sounds amazing. They didn't turn to technical death or melodeath or deathcore yet

Gojira and Trivium

nah trivium have definitely became much more thrashy throughout the years, except for the In Waves album, they kind of turned back to core on that

Definitely As I Lay Dying and Every Time I Die. I'd also add 36 Crazyfists to that list...

Errr. Machine Head? Really? They went out towards nu-metal and commercialism away from their conventional sound in a very blatant way. Then when heavy music came back round again, and a heavier more abrasive strand of metal came back into fashion in the mid 00s they went back to it.

I think they earned their penitence with The Blackening - although I must say that, even though it wasn't their best musical effort, I still don't think Supercharger was an altogether terrible album.

Suffocation - Delivers crushing death metal on every record. Love all of them.

Scar Symmetry - Haven't changed their sound much at all through the years, except for two new vocalists. Love every cd they've put out so far.

The Project Hate MCMXCIX - Crushing progressive/electronic/death metal. Think they've changed their vocalist for every album they put out, still brilliant records.
