So I am overhauling my bass. Most of the stuff I am doing, I can handle. But the pickups are giving me particular trouble.

I really want soapbar style pickups (I feel they match the wood tone I am giving the bass), but none of the ones in my price range say if they are active or passive.

First of all, are those active or passive? If they are active, my current bass has passive electronics, so can I just use them out of the box, or do I have to mod my bass further? if so, what do I need?

The P-bass pickups you list say that they are like the normal Precision bass pickups... which means passive. I suspect the Bass Mods Jazz Bass pickups are passive as well, just like standard Jazz picks, due to their price.

Which means you don't need to do any alterations to your wiring other than swapping the pickups.
