Hey guys

I really want to buy an amp going straight to a loadbox(apartment living's lame).
I'm looking for a versatile amp, from Decapitated to Meshuggah.I'm playing in Drop F and want a really ''clear'' distortion and tight low end.

What's my best shot?

Thanks

J

Since you want that diversity and are in an apartment ....

Axe fx?

The 5153 would be cool but I don't think it really does the meshuggah style sound.

If you're going to be in an apartment it's probably the best choice to take the digital route as you won't be able to push a tube amp to it's maximum potential in such small quarters without ticking off the neighbors.

The Axe Fx is probably the best at doing that. The unit offers a lot of versitality with all of the amp models you would really ever need, and there's a lot of room for growth from the unit with Fractal pushing out new firmware updates and such.

and for what it's worth Meshuggah themselves actually use the axe fx now, you'd probably be able to get a tone that suits your exact needs.

There are many great amps for metal and not one can be the best.

Knowing your budget would solve this quickly but here are my suggestions:

DAR FBM 100 (Frederik from meshugga, signature amp)

VHT Pitbull (I have one and its brutal as .... and records extremely well)

VHT Deliverance

ENGL Fireball/Blackmore

Fortin amps

Bogner Uberschall Revision #2 (Beast of an amp)

Diezel Herbert (very focused on the mids, can get extremely compressed sounding and HEAVY!)

There are seriously alot more that could be mentioned.

great mentions, except DAR, while a very promising amp, it currently is unobtainable

Depends on how much you're willing to spend...

An Axe FX or Pod HD is a great idea if you want to go digital.. otherwise, you could use a tube amp with an amp attenuator.

Also.. are you planning on recording? Because if you are, you could run the attenuator into a Randall Isolation Cabinet.

Good selection but non but 2 of them apartment friendly

Out of that list the fireball sounds great at low volumes, don't suppose he'll be playing with a band so he needn't worry about it terrible presence.

The blackmore is a better version of the FB.

Both will do decap style death metal easy and early meshuggah.

I actually play with a band.

I don't have a budget because when I find something I like,I'll eventually save up for it.

5150. Pretty much the ultimate in alternative versatility, seriously. We are talking about gain...
