I have to thank some folks here for this recommendation; I came to Seven String to ask advice on extended range guitars, and after a very short time my perception of where I was headed completely changed. I was going to buy some Ibbys 7s and 8s but was told to buy Carvin Custom not only because of the tremendous amounts of options you have, but comes in at such an affordable price! What I got was an axe that far exceeded my expectations!

Check out below some choice pics of my DC700 Black Flamed Maple top with Birds Eye 5-Piece Neck and black chrome hardware:

Damn...so nice!

Very close to the color scheme I was thinking about...though I'm leaning more towards an ebony board...

Great choice :) I love the black flame maple top! Welcome to the club!

Can you tell us how do you like the sound? I believe the Carvin active pups are better than their stock passives.

Ha! Not a chance :) Then again, comparing passives to actives is an unfair comparison since they both have distinctive sounds. As a passive-type guy, I'm not gonna like the actives as much - which is why I would have opted for passive pups with coil splitters. Their passives are VERY good. I think their actives are better (again, just an opinion) than EMG 707s, but I've never directly A/B'd them on the same guitar with the same strings, amp, pedals, and setup.

Congrats OP - that sure is gorgeous! If only it had passive pups lol :)

Thanks a bumch! I added a link to the original post if you want to hear the active Pups; unless you want to go aftermarket passive, you have to get the active Pups for the 700 & 800s (to the best of my knowledge at least).

Thank you! I do love them both, they are soooooo much fun to play! Since you saw the DC800, my idea was kinda a motif 'black and blue' with maple variations.. kind of a silly idea lol, but they both turned out incredible!

I am jealous, I want a carvin! I love your wood choice.

Thanks a bunch! I'm really pleased how these turned out considering this was my first stab at custom builds (read: I had no idea what I was doing.. ) I highly recommend Carvin if you're considering one; they are the bizness! You can't do better for the custom build route for the price! :yesway:
