The DC727's been around for a long time, so I probably can't offer much in the way of new information.

However, take note:

- Carvin's willingness to do something not off the set menu? A+. Execution: A+

- fit and finish is a 4.999 out of 5 only due to a few small things that my perfectionism can't let go, but there's not worth mentioning.

It's an absolutely beautiful instrument, and for the price, I don't think you can beat it.

Lovely guitars, nice playing and tone (and yeah, I am a Carvin fan so I might be slightly biased ^^ )

You got lucky man. That guitar is beautiful, and they won't do it anymore. They specifically state on their site now that they will not do blackburst over white. I emailed asking why (with a link to this thread showing that it had been done before), and got a reply stating the they only did it a few times, and that most of the time, the black spots on the white making it look really unprofessional. Enjoy your awesomely unique guitar!

Hi!,

I noticed you don't have the locking nut with the Floyd Rose. How the Sperzels hold the tuning? is it a good option?. Of your 2 seven string Carvins, which woods do you prefer?

Thanks!

I own a Carvin DC727. Sperzels hold the tune like a charm, you don't need, and I mean do NOT need a locking nut with them. They are by far the best thing.
Mine has a phase switch, witch is a MUST (doesn't cost much to have it added by Carvin but makes a big difference). And lets not forget the C26 hums -> they f-in' get your socks off with a proper amp, gain or just make you cry like a baby with the clean warmth they produce. I for one want to be buried with this guitar! That's my review ;)
