I have recently acquired an original 1987 Carvin X100b for quite a steal of $300 complete with a new pack of JJ 12ax7 and JJ 6l6 tubes. This is my first tube amp and so far I am loving it. But, there is one thing that is bugging me. when I use my schecter hellraiser that has EMG 707's, the tone becomes too low-mid heavy. Has anyone used this amp and gotten a good high-gain tone out of it by using a boost pedal such as the one I am using? For reference, here is my rig : Schecter c7-FR --> Digitech Bad Monkey, level on max, low & high at 12 o'clock, and gain at about 9 o'clock --> Carvin X100b, bass on 2, mid at 4, treble at 5, gain at 5, master at 7, eq on scooped mids.
