recently i've changed musical interests alot and i've been wanting to play meshuggah but my current 7(rg7321) can't hold F very well. i use 11. gauge

so i'm thinking of saving my cash for a 8, but i dont want to spend over 1500$ what are my options?

That's pretty much it, unless you can find a newer builder that would be willing to build you a guitar for that, but if you were going to go that route, I'd be sure to really check the guy/gal out before you hand him/her some of your cash. You're probably not going to find anyone though, new or old in the scene, who's going to build you a guitar for that. So I'd say search the 'bay.

What he said.

You could actually probably get a new RG2228 for less than $1500. A lot of stores ordered them when they first came out, but then they didn't sell right away.

The Guitar Center by me ordered one, and it didn't sell for almost 4 months. They ended up putting it on clearance for like $1,000. If you go to a high volume dealer like that, that relies on quick turn around items, you might be able to snag a really good deal.

with ur money, I'd go RG8 or Intrepid...

but probably Intrepid since the neck is a tad bit longer...

The step 608B has a through neck and is only $1000 and in my opinion 10 times better than the rg2228.
