More photos, figured it out :D

To be honest all of my photos are just me trying to make it as similar to what I've seen on this site. BTW, sorry about the crappy quality. I don't have a dedicated camera here, so I had to use my phone.

You scored. I payed 240 for mine. Some Ibbies are as cheap as barkdust and they get the job done. Had to file the nut grooves in mine and do some other setup work, but it's great in F# stand.

I like my Vendetta 7 a lot, but new tuners and pickups would make it much better. I shaved off some of the excess headstock wood because I wasn't fond of the V headstock.

I've never heard of that wood type it's made out of, but it sounds great and it's really light on the shoulder. In fact, that light pressure is almost soothing haha.

It's a good idea to supply us with your proposed budget, otherwise just about everyone is going to recommend you get a Douglas. They're very reliable instruments.

Dean Vendetta 1.7 was my first guitar and first 7 string and I would buy it again any time.
By now I had it refitted with Liquifire and Crunchlab pickups, but even without it was a great start. Still love it cause it is so versatile. I can go from the heaviest metal to claptons balads in one footstomp.
Easy to handle, great feel and just a lot of bang for the buck.

agreed, you need to learn to walk before you learn to run.

:noway: Disagree, thats like saying "get an acoustic then an electric."

Get whatever the hell you want to, if you don't you wont be happy and won't be inspired to progress further with the instrument.

And... AHHHHEEEEEMMMM
"you know a 7 string has a built in 6 string right?"

I have a Cort Viva 7, and it plays beautifully, the only problem is that it is discontinued. you can find them on ebay for around $200 though

I upgraded from the dean vendetta (the newer trans black one) to the Douglas and I couldn't be any happier. The action, sound, and looks of the guitar blow the dean away. I prefer it over the RG7321s and low end schecters I've tried by far.

The only thing better about the dean was its weight.

I can see why someone would be better off getting a 6 versus a 7 first, just because it would be easier to play (physically). But you're right, if the dude wants to end up playing a 7, he should start on a 7.

That being said, I'd like to add that it's vastly more important to get a QUALITY guitar first - going cheap will probably mean that it will be harder to play, will require more setup, and the returns on learning it won't be as immediate.

NO REALLY dont even consider any other 7 string
unless you got more money to spend on but for $180?
you cant beat that and well cause i own one and its a beauty
i never thought of buying one till last week and its a beast
and when you order it on musicians friend i don't know anywhere else
it actually comes in black not no gray lookin transparent black color
the neck feels amazing its not a bat or a wizard neck its just right for medium sized hand haha
and who says you cant just but some blackouts up in that puppy to make it sound good
and the body is super light (headstock heavy) but you barely feel it
i really recommend you getting this as a cheap 7 string
