Rather enjoyed this story and have to give the Chinese a little credit; it took the USA a bit more than 17 years to follow after Japan's example, and it looks like China is only a few years behind the USA.

A little credit also needs to be thrown their way for trying to curb foreign speculation, but this unfortunately may also be their undoing, too. Another area that may keep their economy going onward and upward is that they have little household debt and that their exports exceed their imports (lesson learned from the Japanese). Granted, there is also the issue that the juan is not valued correctly.
