"CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK IN NEAR DROWNING ACCIDENT WHILE FILMING WITH DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER IN LAS VEGAS"

Dog gets Mindfreak with a Samoan knot. Don't mess with the Dog(unless you're the Mexican government)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sunday, February 25, 2007

HONOLULU, HI – Duane “Dog” Chapman, wife and partner Beth Chapman, sons Leland Chapman and Duane Lee Chapman, and associate Tim Chapman of A &E’S DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER are currently on the mainland for business commitments in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. A nearly fatal stunt gone wrong on the set of A&E’s CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK left that show’s star with what a rep says was “a close call.”

According to Las Vegas Review Journal reporter Norm Clarke, the DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER stars, in town for a national bounty hunter convention, participated in a demonstration with popular Las Vegas-based illusionist Criss Angel in the Luxor pool.

Per Angel’s request, the bounty hunters tied and shackled Angel and pushed him into the pool for a classic Houdini trick, which he has performed successfully many times before. Angel was submerged for 4-1/2 minutes trying to get free before his handlers got the sign to go in after him. Angel has rarely stayed under for more than 2-1/2 to 3 minutes, so it was "a close one," a rep said.

A show spokesperson added that this was the first time in 15 years that Angel has failed a magic trick.

The bounty hunters from Hawaii used a Samoan knot – which proved too much for Angel. He has challenged DOG and his posse to a rematch in Hawaii, which the Chapmans accepted, causing Dog to quip, “So, that’s Hawaiian bounty hunters ONE, magic guy NONE!”

This episode of the show was filmed before a live audience, as well as for CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK and DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER, as part of a cross-promotion for the network. The two shows’ crews were there, as well as A&E executives. Episode airing dates TBA.

Beth was a featured speaker last week at the 2007 Professional Bail Agents of the United States (PBUS, www.pbus.com) Winter Conference & Membership Meeting at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Last year, Duane was the keynote speaker at the conference. This year, Duane, joined by Tim and sons Duane Lee and Leland, demonstrated the latest non-lethal equipment, at the conference.

The Chapmans now head to Los Angeles where they have been invited to several Academy Award events. Duane will also be a guest star on NBC’s MY NAME IS EARL, which films on February 27th.

This has obviously been a trying time for the Chapmans, especially with the recent lower court decision in Mexico, but they wanted to keep all of their professional commitments and continue “business as usual.” They return at the end of the month and will also be lobbying strongly for a bail bonds bill they have introduced in the Hawaii Legislature.

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER is currently in production in Hawaii, shooting their 4th season which premieres April 10th on A&E.

I honestly think he does have "powers" as people say.. least for the things like Levitation and walking on water... It is a myth that with complete inner peace and meditation, you can levitate, in higher learnings of Yoga that is one of the goals (and its not just that cartoon shit you always see of Yoga people, altho that is a misconception of the myth) but I think Criss has just mastered these techniques that not many people can, although there have been others reported to levitate too, so hes not the only one doing it. Sure, his smaller ones like the balducci levitation and the one in the youtube clip here are gimmicks, because he wants to have some explaination for his tricks, He doesnt want people to believe he mastered this art of the human body, he wants people to think theres a trick to it, keeps it controversal.. and from the government to like force him to reveal how he trains himself or kill him or something

Just think tho, they say we only use 10% of our brain.. and our body can already do some insane things that go against logic.. So in that other 90% there would be nothing such as ESP or the such? Humans do crazy things when their in trouble, like small people lifting cars or such to save themselves or others.. I think people like Criss just took this one step further and gained control over these aspects of the body.. Thats what I think anyways..

Escape from a Jail Cell

This effect was made famous by the great Harry Houdini. Houdini often allowed himself to be locked in a jail cell completely naked and would emerge moments later free, fully dressed, and riding a bicycle. Today's male magician generally avoids the "naked" part of the effect, largely out of fear that the other inmates will find him "pretty."

Effect

The magician is searched, taken to prison, locked in a standard jail cell. All witnesses exit to another room, and the magician quickly escapes.

Secret

There is a wide variety of methods available for escaping from a jail cell. Some classic ones include:

* Stuffing clothes with rags and carving a wooden head and hands to create a mannequin version of the magician. It is this mannequin who is locked in the cell while the magician hides around the corner.
* Tunneling through he prison walls using a spoon.
* Using a top hat to produce a bunny that has a hacksaw hidden inside.
* Carving a magic wand out of a bar of soap and using it to magically open the lock.
* Bribing a guard with cigarettes.
* Good behavior and early parole.

Many other clever methods have been tried over the years. One -- used by one of those "naked" escaping magicians -- involved the magician sticking a foot in the cell door so that it could not close all the way. Another was to stand facing the bars, then turn 90 degrees (effectively making the magician thinner), and then just walk out between the bars sideways
