Hello!

I decided to make some mods to a nice Korean made Ibanez I've got for cheap price not long ago on eBay. In the pictures below you can take a look at current stage of the work, I will post updates and progress in this thread. If someone is interested in my other projects and my guitar-tech/aspiring future luthier work, you can follow me on facebook - https://www.facebook.com/DSCGuitars/

I've skipped the boring parts including removing the original finish and sanding the wood. The only interesting fact about this is that I've found a great piece of flame basswood among the 4-piece body (see pics). Currently the guitar top has been coated with a dark brown wood filler that will perfectly fit into the burl's holes and other weird things. I'm gonna sand it and make the top edge bevel on Wednessday. I've already bevelled the edges on the back of the body, as I dislike Ibanez RG shapes a bit, I've made the contours softer.

What are your thought about the headstock logo, should I remove the 'custom' part or should I rather let it stay?

Thanks for watching, all opinions are welcome, I'll also gladly answer any questions concerning my work.

I'd also leave the Custom part.

So what's the laundry list for this mod? Should look really cool with the one piece burl veneer.

Thanks for kind words. I've made some progess today, pics below.

And about 'to do list':
- removing finish from body, headstock and neck - done
- plugging pots and switch holes and applying poplar burl veneer - done
- applying ziricote veneer on the headstock - done
- sealing the top veneer with rosewood colored sealer and sanding it down to even surface - done
- faux binding a'la PRS - done
- staining back and sides - in progress
- finishing the body and the neck with multiple coats of satin polurethane
- sanding neck and body to nice satin with steel wool
- assembly and covering cavities with copper foil
- wiring pickups and making custom covers for truss rod and back cavity

The guitar will receive locking tuners and some kind of passive pickups, haven't decided on them yet, depending on what I will choose, I may add custom wooden or metal covers or something similar to them.
