I just recently purchased my first 7 string but the stock pick ups just don't cut it for me,I am comparing the Seymour Duncan's 7 string invader and the EMG 707 but if there is anything better I would like your input.:shred:

This is about as broad as you can get while asking a question. We need info!
What kind of gear will it be going through?
What artists' tones do you like?
What genre do you plan on playing?
Do you want searing bite, or liquid smoothness? ect, ect...
And BTW, we have a PU's and Electronics forum. ;)

Also, if you decide to get EMGs, then you will have to factor in either:
A) routing the cavities out yourself, or
B) paying someone to do it for you.
since Emg 7s aren't standard sized

I'm a huge fan of fear factory and machine head,I play the same style but my gear isn't that great I'm in the process of rebuilding.I'm looking at the Laney amp line is this a good decision?

ok I don't want to rout out my guitar,so would the invader be better?,I like fear factory's drive and machineheads harmony's solo's.

It seems like EMG pickups would suit you, but it's a real pain to modify a 7 string guitar for them. Seymour Duncan would suit your apparent taste well, too, I think. I like DiMarzio myself, my PU of choice being the Blaze Custom. Do a search; there's way more info on 7-string pickups here than you're likely to need.

Laney amps don't really do tight high gain riff metal as well as, say, Randall or Mesa...they're more midrange heavy classic metal sounding amps IMO

Maybe you should try Line 6/Randall/Peavey/Mesa and an EMG 81-7?
