has anyone done this before? i know people tune B-A on 8 strings with gary goodman's strings. would it be possible to do EADGBEA or EADGCEA on my ibanez 7? would it need a lot of truss rod adjustment?
thanks

It is perfectly feasible. I've never seen it done, but I see no reason why it wouldn't be possible to achieve. Personally, I don't like the unnatural, piercing sound (to my ears) of the high notes on the high A string, nor the muddy indistinct rumble (again, to my ears - especially with power chords) of the low notes on the low F# string, which is why a 7 is pretty much perfect for me. But strokes for folks - go for it :).

yeah, it has been done before, I doubt you would have to adjust the truss rod at all. (maybe slightly, not much) just need some real light string 0.06 or something similar
Go for gold if you want to do that :yesway:
