Here is a mixtest i am working on at the moment, it is still far from finished but i wouldnt mind some feedback whilst i am still working on it.

The playing is sloppy but it literally is just to test the mix. I just one taked the small bit of vocal just to have something in there (i am no vocalist by any means)
Drums are s2.0 metal foundry.
Guitars are legion amp sim + Ibanez 570 w/Bareknuckle Painkiller

More bass and a tiny bit less treble on the guitars, them bring them down in the mix a little bit. Bass drum and bass guitar up a tiny bit. Everything else sounds great man.

This is really good, so my only criticism is absurdly nitpicky: your mutes cut the notes too short. In the original song the muted notes last longer than yours, probably related to your amount of drive/noise gate. Increase the former or decrease the latter. Other than that, pretty good!

Hey guys thanks for checking this out. Thanks for the advice TheGhunther i will have a play with it and see if i can squeeze some more bass out the guitars. Nayon, yeah im aware of the notes cutting out to early but i think its due to me cutting the guitar manually and not leaving enough after each note. I wasnt too fussed about the playing though as it was just a mixtest.

More feedback appreciated http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/members/theghunther.html

I made some changes, kick and bass up, more bottom end in the guitars.

Let me know if its any better.

I think that this definitely sounds a lot better than the last one, it's a little bit more full. And even though this is a good tone, I think that this kind of music needs a little bit more gain in the guitars. You can tell you're lacking a little, especially on the diminished chugs.

Regardless, I'm loving the tone you're getting from legion. What are you doing to the guitars/legion settings? and what kinda impulses are you using?

this sounds good man. theres really not much bass in the actual recording of this song, seems like all the low end is just coming from the kick/guitars. it does work though, the whole album sounds killer

Thats for the feedback guys i really appreciate it. Instead of trying to explain i have made an image breaking down this guitar tone. Here it is.

That was actually incredibly helpful, thank you. but is there any way you could tell me what the EQing is on the guitar track? it's hard to read that without actual numbers. same with the notched EQs on the guitar bus. Also, where did you get your impulse from? and what kinda stuff are you using on your master bus? I usually just use ozone 4 with the mid-range dynamics preset, a limiter, and an hp and lp at 40hz and 14khz.

Hi im sorry but FabFilter makes it really awkward to display the EQ frequencies all at once. If you just fiddle around with them areas from the image and tweak it to your individual song that would probably be a better option. The impulses are "metalmillers" Framus Cobra IR's. Here they are.

I take no credit for these awesome impulses.

As for the master bus i have an EQ filtering out anything below 28hz. I am using tRacks 3 and the "solid low end" preset. I havnt bothered tweaking much but its generally hitting about 10rms if i can remember correctly.

Thanks so much man. I'll have to mess around with it. I tried it in my current mix and the guitars didn't sound much like yours... but i'll have to do another mix and start with those settings and work around it. thanks for all the help, i appreciate it.

Yeah well my guitar sound was pretty much tweaked around the drum sound so thats why i probably sounds different on its own or in your mix. Anytime mate :yesway:

Thanks for sharing this information! It's really helpful since i'm in the process of shaping my tone :hbang:
One very noob question, the "guitar buss", is supposed to be an auxiliary send or something like that? Thanks again for your time.
