Thanks to the help from you guys on here I've decided to go bag myself a SC608, as I only get to use the inernet at work during lunch I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some specs of this beast and string gauge suggestions, i'll still use 10-52 for open C and like a 66 or 68 for G but with adding a low E aswell I'd just like to know some suggestions thx :yesway: :shred:

Never used 27" scale. But for 25.5" (6 strings) I used 0.12 and a 0.75 for low F#. The tension was ok.

What tension do you like. I love a tight tension, 0.11s. Try a 0.11, 0.65 for low B and 0.75 or 0.80 for low F#.

well my guitars tuned to open C major so its CGCGCE but obviously adding a lower G and E, I use 10-52 and those are great, really wanted to know what id use for the low G and E and yeah I like tight tension for the lower strings :yesway:

For E, I'd say 75 minimum. If it were me, I'd use a 90 which is around 18lbs. 85 is 16.4lbs, 80 is only 14.75lbs and 75 would be 13.2lbs in E.

I wont use 27" scale for low E, it'll be ok for F# or F with big strings but low E might sound too muddy, floppy... You might have to wait for someone to tryout.

id really go for an 80 for low E, maybe a 76 at that scale. Im pushing a 70 tuned to G#, which is just perfect in terms of tension. I can pull F# at 25.5", but it needs a 74 really.

For a low E on a 27'' scale youl probably need something like an 85 or something crazy like that. Some of the users of telephone cable for strings on here will no doubt suggest 100 or something equally insane but an 85 would do the job

Cheers for all the help guys, think 80 would probably be the best bet really, although if I really cant be arsed to tune like that I might just keep it in standard and see what I can do with that, at the mo finding open C a bit limiting, cheers for the specs aswell :hbang:

 My RG2228 is down a whole step and the D'Addario .080 as a low E is working out quite well. The tension is a wee bit more than the stock .065 at F#, and it sounds better IMHO. :yesway:
