This is not a stab at core bands.. Im just curious to see many different examples of breakdowns before deathcore / hardcore ect...

Can anyone show me good examples of metal breakdowns in deathmetal? or another style?

Im sure I can find some slayer breakdowns as well...

I can't be bothered to look for them right now but I know of a couple Pantera, Slayer (hell, even Raining Blood) and Testament songs that feature "half time 'chugga chugga' parts" in them. Usually was your cue to go into a circle pit.

That said, I remember the modern version of the breakdown being more a product of NYC style hardcore.

Exactly what i was thinking. Suffocation are the masters of breakdowns. They're so twisted, especially compared to all the generic breakdowns you usually hear.
