It's neither, it's his Gibson. He had a similar Gibson signature though.
It’s a Gibson EII, which is different than his signature.

Gibson had an explorer slightly smaller figured top called an E2, not like the ESP sub brand.

His signature is sijilar but knob placement and neck binding trap inlays and such.

E/2 is actually a different guitar than an EII. The one he’s playing is the EII. An E/2 has a multi-layer body with countours.

Does anyone know where they're made? Love the specs but their web site isn't really chatty about the company, or where they're from.

Not sure if it's changed, but they claim...

Wood from Canada
Shaped and routed (possibly finished) in South Korea
Final assembly/QC in Texas

The E2 werent smaller, they just had a few different designs. What you are thinking about probably are the first generation of explorer pros, which had a 90% body. circa 2002.

I don't understand your logic.

It's not winter yet, and pre-order means they are currently manufacturing the guitars.

My logic is that winter 2018 is behind us.
2019 is coming
Except if they speak about december 2018 but yeah i get your point too ;)
So i thought they were late due to lack of preorder
