I find this can be so changeable because there are some bands I would have put in 6 months ago who at this moment in time I couldn't bear listening to. A perfect example of this is Metallica. Love them, but at the moment hate them (Sorry!) Anyway.... (at the moment)

4. Dream Theater (Yeah, I guess it isn't really 'metal' metal, but can't leave it out ... either that or I don't listen to enough metal)

Fundamentally all prog or technical. I think I am starting to get a bit predictable ...

Yet, another band on my Top 5 of All Time list, but alas, I don't find them to be metal in the traditional sense. This thread makes things confusing.

These bands are my favorites, some of them I have been listening to since the late 80's - I am 37 now and still get shitty looks from everyone when I drive by in my car with a 1000 watt RockFord Fosgate stereo system thrashing out these bands ! Funny thing is, I'm usually wearing a suit and tie on my way to and from work! Can you imagine that?
