I find this can be so changeable because there are some bands I would have put in 6 months ago who at this moment in time I couldn't bear listening to. A perfect example of this is Metallica. Love them, but at the moment hate them (Sorry!) Anyway.... (at the moment)

1. Between the Buried and Me
2. Meshuggah
3. Opeth
4. Dream Theater (Yeah, I guess it isn't really 'metal' metal, but can't leave it out ... either that or I don't listen to enough metal)
5. Sikth

Fundamentally all prog or technical. I think I am starting to get a bit predictable ...

Yet, another band on my Top 5 of All Time list, but alas, I don't find them to be metal in the traditional sense. This thread makes things confusing. ;)

These bands are my favorites, some of them I have been listening to since the late 80's :hbang: - I am 37 now and still get shitty looks  from everyone when I drive by in my car with a 1000 watt RockFord Fosgate stereo system thrashing out these bands :fawk: ! Funny thing is, I'm usually wearing a suit and tie on my way to and from work! Can you imagine that?

Annihilator
Disturbed
Dream Theater
Exodus
God Smack
Iced Earth
Lamb Of God
Megadeth
Metal Church
Overkill
Pantera
Shadowsfall
Sinergy
Soilwork
Symphony X

Yeah, that band makes my kidneys hurt. :hbang:

um, hmm... a bit more progressive than straight metal, but...

1.) Tool
2.) Devin Townsend Band
3.) Opeth
4.) Gordian Knot
5.) Floater (borderline, but their earliest stuff is pretty metal)

Ahh, my good friend, Luke. He was in my previous band, Byaxis, for a while. Incredible musician. The old ST drummer, Dave, is now back in Seattle. I met up with him this weekend.

Shall I go on?
Nah... ;)

As well as the usual favourites (Pantera, Fear Factory, Megadeth, Metallica etc), I got to put these great bands on the list (In no particular order)

This week the top 5 would be:

Cynic
Atheist
Coroner
Black Sabbath
Aghora

though it would change week by week, damn I do love Metal! If you guys haven't heard Coroner I'd really recommend you check them out, really unbeliveably tastefull technical guitar playing :hbang:
