This 6505+ was purchased brand new around 5 months ago and sent to FJA mods in December. If you aren't familiar with FJA mods, they are probably the most popular, respected specialists for doing mods or any work on amps in the business. Go ahead, read some of the reviews: FJA Reviews

As it stands now it's in FLAWLESS condition inside and out, it looks brand new. A few paint scuffs on the metal corners but that's the worst of it. Also included is the 3-button footswitch and cable, works perfectly.

I had a multitude of mods installed on it including the following:

-60 Watt Mod (6505's are known to be ridiculously loud, I had the wattage cut in half so you can get better low-volume tones not to mention spend less on tubes. Don't worry, it's still INSANELY loud and can play any venue you want it to.)
-Lead/Rhythm mod (brings the lead channel back to the original specs, add my clarity mod to the lead channel, mod the rhythm channel for a warmer, thicker, more modded Marshall type crunch tone and an improved clean tone. A bigger, tighter bottom end and better low volume tones.)
-Clarity Mod (gives you a more usable clean channel, get rid of some of the hiss on the lead channel and tighten the overall tone to give you more clarity with less saturation. You get a bigger, tighter bottom and better low volume tones.)
-Custom Output Transformer (gives the amp a tighter, more defined and articulate tone. It balances out the frequencies so the lows don't fall apart and get muddy and the highs aren't so harsh. It makes the amp more dynamic with a tighter feel. It improves the clarity and definition of what you're playing so everything isn't blurry.)
-Custom Choke (the custom choke beefs up the power supply by improving the power supply filtering which help with noise levels, improves sustain, and helps the amp stay tight and punchy.)
-Sweep Mod (added pot that adjusts where the EQ circuit operates and allows you to dial in thicker low/mid tones or cutting high/mid tones.)
-Additional Custom Work ("extra mods for amazing punch and dynamics.")
-Bias Mod

It was also retubed TAD 6L6TGC-STR's, a JAN 5751 for V1, a Sovtek LP for the phase inverter and Penta 12AX7's for the rest of the gain stages. Less than 6 hours of use.

What you get in the end is perhaps one of the best Peavey (or high gain) amp in existence. The cleans are even cleaner, the distortion is clearer, tighter, and more massive than ever with incredible bass and punch. I was particularly impressed with how low I could have the gain and have it still sound heavy.
The EQ has a much larger spectrum of tweakable sounds and the Sweep dial does exactly what it's supposed to and really gives a whole new layer to the EQ and the tones you can dial in (or out). It's versatility has gone through the roof, you no longer are limited to just straight up metal IMO.

The lead channel was modded back to original 6505/5150 specs and improved on immensely so you're getting the best of both the MKI and MKII plus way more.
The crunch channel can be used as a second lead channel with proper boosting which sounds amazing IMO.
These mods solve many problems people have with 6505's/5150's in general (such as the "buzzy bees" sound and overall fizz to name a couple) while retaining it's signature tone that has made it a staple in the recording industry and a favorite for rock/metal bands. That's the best thing about FJA's mods, they don't in any way change the core sound of the amp, they just improve and enhance it's base tonal characteristics while getting rid of most, if not all of it's weaknesses and shortcomings.

The only reason I'm considering trading/selling it is because I'm after a very specific tone and I'm want to try some different amps out, unfortunately I don't have the funds to afford more than one amp at a time though. So as much as I hate it I'm posting this up.

The price is extremely reasonable when you consider what you're getting. If you were to look for a 6505+ in comparable condition you would spend between $750-$850, $150 on tubes, then you'd have to pay to ship the amp to FJA ($40-$60), have the mods done ($800+), then pay to have it shipped back to you (another $40-$60). You'd be looking at something between $1800-$1900 depending on the various factors not to mention all the time that this would take to get done (around 1-2 months).

I take PayPal and money orders. Buyer pays UPS shipping. I have 100% feedback on eBay and my PayPal account is verified. I've done a lot of business here, on Harmony Central and at Ultimate-Guitar. I can provide you with references if you wish.

Be sure you ask me any questions you might have. Thanks!

Going back to the Pittbulls are you?

FYI I bought kazE's VHT in November and everything went very smoothly, even international shipping to Belgium :yesway:

Haha thanks Tom. Yeah I'm interested in the new Pitbull's, they really just sound fantastic and after using this amp for a while I've come to the conclusion that it's a thoroughly incredible amp but I'm after a slightly different tone.

Don't get me wrong, I really would keep it if I could afford more than one amp. It's got some fantastic clarity and brutal punch.

The work that FJA did on it is nothing short of amazing, I will send my stuff to Jerry in the future every chance I get.
