Get rid of my Lexicon MPX1 for a TC Electronic G Major (anyone want an MPX1?)

What made you ditch the MPX1? I've been looking into them lately.

I have a huge list... I wish I had more $$$. :(

Not in perfect order, but damn close:
- Ibanez RG20062 (ooo! puzzle!) [yeah right, I hear only 2 were made :(]
- Ibanez Universe (current, UV777BK) and/or a black/green one
- BBE Sonic Maximizer 882i
- Eventide Eclipse
- TC Fireworx
- Lexicon MPX1
- TC M4000
- DBX Quantum II
- Engl E-580
- TC Finalizer 96k
- Mesa Boogie Tri-Axis
- Ibanez RGA121
- Ibanez RG1520-GBP

Well, I got the MPX1 for a smokin' deal. So, I tried it out. First off, I will say that it has AMAZING sound quality. The effects are top notch.

First drawback, only 50 user preets...however there are quite a few useful factory ones unbelievably. That coupled with the fact that a lot of my presets wouldn't be using it, I thought I could get by with Midi Mapping.

But, the kicker is the time it takes for it to change presets via midi. It has to load them. This is a true studio processor, and not suitable for live applications like I need. It takes up to 2 seconds to switch patches sometimes, and that is not acceptable for me. Sometimes it's less, but it's never instant. But my Intellifex from 1990 has NO delay when switching patches. It is a shame, and I even tried to get it to work using it's bypass function controlled by my Octopus, but still no luck.

So now I'm shooting for a G Major again. Or maybe a Rocktron Xpression. I have to try them both I guess. But I know TC is da bomb!

jakeskylyr,

Did you buy the MPX1 new, or used? If you're really looking to dump it, I might be interested in acquiring, lol...

TC Electronics are great. I got to use a few at family-friend's studio, and they were amazing. As a result, I'm now looking to acquire their Fireworx, M4000 studio reverb, and Finalizer. Have you considered the Fireworx as an option? My understanding is that the Fireworx and G Major are both multi-effects processors, but the Fireworx offers a bit more and all (though pricier :().

Add these 2 to my list as well. The Tri-axis + 2:90 vs Roadking debate is neverending in my bank account.

Great choice! :D

I'd go Tri-Axis personally, I'm addicted to rack equipment now. :D But the Roadking is a great amp. Perhaps when it comes to that time, you should just flip a coin :D, either choice would be great. :)

^wow that's a lot of smiliies

It's used but barely...
One of my students is the Vice President of a Professional A/V editing studio in NYC. They acquired another studio location, and in the process picked up this unit. He sold it to me knowing that I was looking at this unit, or something similar. It was still in the BOX! I would've said it was brand new, but when I took it out of the plastic, I could tell that a jack had been in the midi out jack. If it weren't for that, I'd swear it was brand new; there was no dust, rack rash or nothing. I put it in my rack, dinked with it, and left it on bypass most of the time. It's now out and back in the box and plastic.

PM or email me if you are interested in it, and maybe we can work out a deal :D

They make a dual processor laptop. Dual core > dual processor in all the tests I've seen (granted this is on XP, but still.....)

But you know Apple. They'll do a dual processor, dual core (4 cores) Power Mac like they did with the current Quad 2.5 G5.

And that is just plain sick!!! In a good way.

I've got a 2.5 G5; but if they do a dual Intel, I am so there.
