Any thoughts on these? Just to be totally clear, I'm talking about the short-scale, mini-humbucker in the bridge, giant humbucker in the neck, 2 volume, 1 tone, faded finish thingers. I'm definitely more of a guitarist than a bass player and I love my Les Paul, so Gibson carries some positive karma in my book. I'm just looking for something I can plug into Logic on my Mac and get some bass happening. The price seems really good, it's cheaper than a new standard mexican fender. Just seems like a really good deal on a new USA made bass. Any reason I shouldn't go for it?

These are great basses. The model you're referring to is an EB3.

I love 'em, contemplating buying one as my next bass. Since I already have an arsenal of standard basses I can get something fun this time.
And as Temjin said, they're muddy, but can be extremely ballsy as well.

Thinking about an EB3 with foam in the bridge and flats makes me salivate.
