Animals As Leaders - S/T
Death - Human, Symbolic, Sound of Perseverance
Deftones - Diamond Eyes
Jeff Loomis - Zero Order Phase
Meshuggah - Catch 33
Stone Temple Pilots - Core
Vader - The Art of War

those are the ones I can think of at the moment but sometimes whenever I listen to music I tend to just let the whole record play, but will sometimes skip songs.

Metallica - Ride the Lightning, MoP, ...And Justice For All, Black Album

I'd say 'first 4 albums' but never was into Kill'em All. And I'd put some after that but they're just... not the same band after that.

Gojira - The Link, From Mars to Sirius
Lamb of God - As the Palaces Burn, Ashes of the Wake, Sacrament
In Flames - The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony, Clayman

Straightforward Gothenburg metal. It's got the sweet-assed guitar harmonies, guitar solos, clean sections...many memorable riffs and grooves in these albums.

Opeth - MAYH, Blackwater Park, Deliverance, Ghost Reveries

Didn't find gutturals to be very listenable when I first started listening to metal, but yeah...

Tool - Undertow.
Mastodon -
Remission, Leviathan, Crack the Skye
High on Fire - Death is this Communion
Rage Against the Machine, debut album still fuckin' rules.
Black Sabbath
- Paranoid

Lamb of God- Ashes of the wake
Slayer- Seasons in the abyss

The two albums I probably listened to the most when first getting into metal.

Have to throw some bumps out there;

Metallica - Lightning and Puppets
Tool - All (Aenima and undertow if you don't have any tool, those will start you out)
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny
Trivium - Shogun (they had some great song structure on this one in my opinion, and it didn't seem like they were trying to hard to sound like the fastest hardest band ever. Just my opinion)
Dethklok - I don't know what it is, it's fairly simple, but fun to listen to
GnR - Appetite for distruction
Megadeth - Rust in Peace and Symphony
Testament - Practice what you preach
