It baffles me how shockingly little the dude knows about gear to be making a living doing gear reviews.
I thought he mostly got popular for doing dumb shit like making metal versions of little kid songs and "___ song but in drop z"

Guy’s band is pretty meh, his “reviews” are as safe as they come.

Edit: based on his collection, I wouldn’t have ever guessed he’d go for a sea foam green offset on a roasted maple neck as his sig

HB probably got a blowout deal on seafoam green paint and told him the color is gonna be what the color is gonna be.

I'm only half joking.

Thank goodness someone else said it.

I wouldn’t even call his content “reviews” in the proper sense. More like broad “spec rundowns” with covers of pre-existing songs from other artists along with mindless chugging ripped right from Ola Englund.

Imagine “being the Drop Z dude” as being your online branding or image…

To be fair, his target demographic's primary concern is whether: (1) this make the good chug or (2) this no make the good chug.

Wish he had a simple review system: CHUG or NO-CHUG (but Ola already does that).

They both should just shorten their videos to being nothing more than 10-15 second video shorts with zero talking and simply either a thumbs-up (CHUG) or a thumbs-down (NO-CHUG) at the end.

That's it.

It doesn't need to be anything more than just that.

Disagree. I enjoy watching Ola honestly as much for his personality and person as I do for the gear shit. If I want to watch someone demonstrate dizzying technique or blandly read off the specs for a guitar or amp, I don't need YouTube for that. I can listen to Tosin or look at Sweetwater's product descriptions

My only assumption is that he went with HB to appeal to the younger demographic of his followers who want to get an affordable multiscale 8. I mean, considering the builders he's worked with already, I'd say he had a fair chance to get, maybe not a signature, but for sure a nice endorsement deal from a more reputable brand. Personally think it's ugly as hell, but to each their own.

Also, this has nothing to do with the guitar, but I cannot listen to his band. Not even that the music's bad, because I'm a deathcore nerd since day 1. But I've seen too many videos of him and his vocalist doing stupid videos in their stereotypical Canadian nice guy shtick that it ruins any sort of authenticity of the lyrics about death and torture. And yes, I understand the irony in deathcore vocalists being perceived as murderers, when most are not even capable of throwing a punch, but a lot of them can at least sell the tough guy image.

Glad to see during my time away from SSO there's still a heaping spoonful of bitterness. lol

I'm honestly baffled at the idea of wanting a signature guitar though. In my mind a signature guitar is just a guitar you gravitate towards because you prefer it over others. Like EVH's frankenstrat... Just something he loved and mutilated to be what he wanted it to be. If you want to be technical, I have a signature guitar and it's quite simply a cheap $200 Guitar Center exclusive Ibanez RG with a natural finish over a flamed maple veneer. Whoever owned it before me put a hipshot bridge, gotoh locking tuners, and a crunchlab in the bridge. Not sure why I like it so much, but I do. Slapped a big fat pervy anime sticker on the front so if I ever get really big (yeah right) and they want to make a clone of my guitar to sell, there's gonna be very few sales of the damn thing. lmfao

The guitar in OP isn't my cup of tea, but then I just hate EMG's and seafoam green, and the body shape. I also hate one pickup guitars. Props to the guy if he's legitimately happy, but I'd honestly just rather get another $200 used RG to fiddle with.
