well, as stated earlier: Buy shielded cables. DOnt use speaker cables, they're not shielded well enough. Use Instrument cables ;p

I used to be able to hear russian radio through my old Leem amp, which I sold.

As soon as I rolled back the volume on my guitar, I could hear it. But well, I live in Finland so Russia is our neighbour to the east so it's not so wierd that it was russian radio.

But the problem stopped when I bought my Marshall DSL100 :)

If that was during the Soviet Union era Russia, then no, I dont think its wierd either :)
