Help me out..

hey i posted this in another forum, but it didn't belong there, so i supposed this is where its supposed to go.

I'm looking to apply a quilt/flame top to my 7 but i don't know exactly how, someone has told me just to get really strong glue, apply it and put a 40lb bag of sand on the top of the body. when should i cut the holes out of the veneer for the pickups and knobs before or after i put it on? any suggestions ?

Go over to project guitar. They have something there where the guy put on a maple veneer onto an rg. Sorry cant be more specific.

actually that might help me out as i'm going to attempt it on a crappy rg i got for free
