Been playing six strings for a long time, even though it does not sound like it. ;-)

I went with the Jackson JS22-7 Dinky, because it's very affordable and apparently it's a solid modding platform.

Definitely a good first choice! I had one as my first 7 years ago and I was super surprised at how good it ended up being, even completely stock.
