Finally my part time/hobby job became the real thing, so by the end of the year i was a full time even rigger.

..I totally misread the last word first time I read this through

A lot of good and bad things happened this year, can't really come up with anything that was a highlight.

I got to know a nice, new person. That's something I guess

after spending the past couple years after getting my bachelors drifting aimlessly w/o a job, living at home and generally not living how I want, this past year has been met with some changes in my life. family being affected by depression forced me to take stock of my own life and where I'm at, where I want to go and how I'll get there. So I went back to school, doin a couple seminar courses and in the process of applying for grad school (m.a in history/public history hopefully) I've also lost about 30 lbs since last year after years of struggling with my weight as a point of contention for my self-esteem. While I still have a long way to go in virtually every aspect of my life, I'm hopeful for the coming year to at least bring me a little more clarity on my life

The Good-

Getting my Business off the Ground. I have 14 weekly lawn maintenance clients now
Spent more time with my dog, Rebel
Discovered ESP and got my four awesome ESPs (although I let go of a Jackson and a Carvin I desperately miss, and also got rid of an ESP EX)
Played a Vigier for the first time and loved it
Discovered how incredible PRS guitars are
Actually asked a beautiful girl out and she said yes, more to come.
Went to Ireland
Turned 21

The Bad-

Old friend of my family's Passed away
Got diagnosed officially with Asperger's and OCD
Was rejected from joining the military for medical reasons
Have been stomach issues on and off since about May

Overall, though, a good year for me at least and I expect 2013 to be better.

Found my dream strat.

Scored an Axe-FxII Mark II in a trade for a bunch of gear I was going to get rid of anyways.

Pretty much shit outside of that.

Edit: Found lots of good music this year too but that's about it aside from whats ^ there.

I've broken quite a bit of new new ground in my playing this year. Also Played at a fest with Lynyrd Skynyrd. First lick I learned was one of theirs! :)
Auditioned to Berklee and made the other auditioners cry. (wishful)

For me;

The good:
Loads of great music releases
Got my ViK
My ViK got me a bunch of YT subscribers
I have more musical direction and drive than ever before
Sorted out some problems with my gf and had a great year with her
Worked shit tons of overtime and bought a lot of gear
Cut back lots of fat in the gym and got pretty toned
Great Christmas holidays

The bad:
Lost more muscle than I expected on my cut
Got pretty ill for the past 4 months, incredibly lethargic on top of that
Due to which I haven't recovered from my cut at all - I feel like I've never even stepped foot in a gym before..so small
Said musical direction is pushing me to release a tech death EP. I have been playing on the clean channel all year. I can't play metal anymore
I have chosen my graduating year to be the one where I start acting like a typical student, not going to lectures and leaving work until the last minute, instead choosing to do things that are more important to me. I have no idea how I am going to complete my coursework this year.

This was my first full year as a writer. Literally started writing fiction in September of 2011. My highlights were having four short stories and two poems accepted for publishing, including my first semi-pro publication, and the confidence this all gave me, knowing my words are worth a damn.

Other than that, this year has been a fucked-up roller coaster ride in and around Hell.

Graduated from College top of my class.
Got signed in full time at work and got a month of paid vacations before even having to present myself at the office.

Glad to see I'm not the only who had a shit year. I just want one year with no fucking funerals. We've lost 10 family members and 1 close friend since 2004.

Got a welding certification.
Quit playing guitar.
Got a job (Railcar Repair).
Got another welding certification.
Got a new truck (2009 Dodge Ram 2500, 6.7l Cummins, 6 speed manual)
Got laid off from that job.
Week later got transferred to another shop an hour away (in fucking Nebraska :squint:).
Get hired on with benefits, no longer a temp.
Put a bunch of go fast parts on my truck.
Damage my left eye, risking blindness.
Get transferred to the warehouse.

Now weighing my options at another career.

This year put a bunch of stuff on my resume towards welding, but it's a pretty good chance I won't be doing any welding full-time anymore, so it was a wasted couple of years.

Might be time to take my buddy up on his offer to go work with him in the oil fields.
