I use mine so I dont have to detune. I like the feel of smaller strings (9-42s), but couldn't stand only having E for a bottom note. Is can be a heavy stance, metal wise, but anything above that tends to sound too thin, so I can have a low B, without having to change any of the other strings gauge/tension, and have wiggle room for riff writing (B C C# D D# E) and still be in the "heavy" zone.

I lube it up and finger it for hours. Then I neglect it for months on end to really make it feel used.

I use it mostly for "mosh" purposes. Most of my riffs are actually based around my low E string.

Well, there's not been too many rhythm parts I've written that didn't make use of the low B since getting it. It doesn't get used in soloing too much, but I like writing scales for my seven string.

I don't.

On occasion when it says to open mute the 6th string I palm mute the 5th fret.

I use it for everything.

I usually start on the C-string ( I have it tuned c-standard).
So if I'm doing a arpeggio in F-minor, I start on the 5th fret and run down to the high F string's 12th fret.

If I get a song that's in E-standard, I start on the 4th fret on the c-string and play it from there. Even with chords.

If it's riffs in drop-d or something like that I place a capo on the 2th fret.

I use all techniques I can, on every string I have.

Mostly for feel actually. Typically though it gets used clean for chord inversions

I just would like to know, how do you approach your B string?

1. I use it all the time in riffs, like the 6th string of a 6string
2. I use it if I feel I need those extra low notes
3. I only use it when I solo, it's easier to play scales with it.

It's an A string. :fawk:

All of the above really. I don't use it all the time, but I don't use the other strings all the time either.
