Hi all i have this white ibanez rg i wanna make look cooler, i have started by putting on strat style volume and tone knobs, and i kifed a white pickup selector switch from my woman's beginner guitar and swapped it with my black one (guess where the knobs came from too .) i have tried mounting the pickup with out a ring but i have decided on instead getting different colored pickup rings and knobs, truss rod cover, and selecter tip. I'm also decing on weather to un hard mount the neck pickup or make the bridge match. So much to think about!

Where can i find all this stuff? And do any of you have any suggestions oh what color to use? I really wanna cool looking guitar and i think my RG's still got a lot of life left in it. But i lack imagination and all that. If you have any colors of white modded rg's please share! I'm also thinking on possibly buying a pick guard for it if that's possible. Would everuthing match up inculding the tone and volume holes? I can just buy longer shaft pots if needed and if i can find them. I'll inculde pictures of it in it's current state. Give you an idea of what i'm working with.

Burn it and buy an RGD.

But in seriousness, Black pickgaurd, black binding, white pups, switch the bridge for a wilkinson or hardtail and ebonize the fretboard.

There are sellers on eBay who do "custom" pickguards, where you can choose which pickups you want cut out and how many holes for knobs you want.

Also, getting pickups that aren't black always helps out any guitar in looking better, and probably wouldn't hurt your sound either. Those INF pickups aren't terrible, but I know a new set would sound better.

Holoflashing is cool too, but I'm not sure if you wanna go *that* 80s with it. That and it takes a very very very long time to get the clear coating done.

This is one of thee earlier phases of the clear-coating. It looks a little bit better now that I've gotten it a tad thicker. Kind of looks like iridescent glass.

I don't really want to refinish it... my pockets aren't that deep. That's why i don't have a 550 or something better.

I got a black and a cream rail pickup i plan on installing in it when i get better pu rings and knobs and stuff. But what colors would look good with white? I'm color blind so i get a lot of my colors mixed up.

How much do you think a refinish costs?

It's very cheap if you do it yourself. :yesway:

But I suppose you don't feel comfy doing that...?

well if i did get it refinshed i would want a professional to do it, i can wire and drill. But i'm not equipped to refinish my guitar and i wouldn't wanna just spray paint it. :scream:

Like they said, black pickguard, EMGs w/ white covers, new pots and make this bitch hardtail. And black hardware overall will look epic.

Decals on the white might be cool. Like if you did some "spray paint-looking" stencil letters or something it would look pretty cool. Sometimes its really cool to have a really clean looking guitar. So maybe change everything to white. White knobs, white mounting rings, white pickup covers.

Fyi - That holoflash finish was done w aerosol cans and most ppl would never know. I think the clear coating is key. But if you dont feel comfy doing it that's fine. It is your baby after all. :yesway:

Radical? hot pink, duh.

But seriously, probably a swirl though you seem to not want that. If you don't want to refinish at all, probably have to use decals? Or find some more interesting knobs/switch then the ones you frankensteined.
