I try the K7 with the same PAF pups and it was very bassy.

The notes where not clear, that guitar have REVERB!

It's a very good guitar, but on a good amp, not on a 7ender

the tuner is a peterson strobostomp. the best tuner under $200 for doing intonation imo.

i bought the pafs on ebay for $70 for the pair i think.
from what i've played with them, they sound great. but i do like a bit more mids in my sound anyway.

Oh, so you like mids.

That's the point, IMO mids are a "dirty" distortion.

I like scoop.

I'm going to look for that tuner.

Cutting strings scares the crap out of me too....I had a band member that tuned WAAAY too high once....His string popped and I was standing too close. Long story short, I have a scare the runs from my lip to my nose and had to get some stitches on the inside and outside of my lip.....:noway:

Um, you don't even have to take the strings off to change pickups.

Just remove your trem springs (carefully, don't loose an eye) and then lift your floyd up and out. You'd have to remove your homeade trem stop too.

If you strings are broken in you'll barely have to return when you put your bridge back in.

You should never cut strings when they still have tension on them, it's bad for your (guitars) neck.

Great post on how not to do it though.

i've been changing strings for longer than i care to remember.
so yes, i do relieve the tension on the strings BEFORE i cut them. there's still something about it that kinda scares me. i work in a machine shop and i've seen what type of injuries metal can inflict.
and yes, mids rule!

that guy, i'm with you.

It's easy to take off the string braking them, but it's dangerous.

You can take it normal, without cuting them, your neck will love you!

Mids rule? what are you talking about...

mids rule, means that i will be heard. depending on the amp i'm using, usually between 12 to 4 oclock.
recording is a different story, but live you need mids to cut through. i can't even start counting how many live bands that i HAVEN'T heard because they have absolutely no mids.
i'm liking the paf7s more and more.

I know that one.

read this one:

In the world aren't people without legs or people that can't walk, that people survive to a flying kick of Chuk Norris.

I have to put some mids, but they sound like shit.

Now with the new amp that i'm going to buy i'm going to try new things.

Nice picstory. I don't turn away when I'm cutting the wound strings, but I do when I'm cutting the others. I've never had a string fly up and hit me in the head, but I'm not about to take any chances.

As for the install, I noticed that the pickups have the coils in the same position. Don't you have to turn the neck humbucker 180 degrees for polarity compatibility with the bridge pickup when combining the two?
