i would gladly listen to anyone named blackalicious... that's an awesome name... by the way i thought of a few more...

cannibal ox
big L (why has no one mentioned this guy yet??)
underground 50 cent (not his in the club bullshit)
D12
hieroglyphics (i know i mentioned del already but whatever)
ras kass
planet asia
gangstarr (again i know i mentioned guru earlier...)
OLD busta rhymes (when he wore the big ass hats)
digable planets (i dunno if someone has said that already)

by the way i know you said albums but i don't really know any of these guys' albums but pretty much anything you get from these should be pretty solid

i think that's it for now...

they did all the crazy flailing dances from the 80s (all those different variations of the "running man")

definitely worth checkin out for the dancing if nothing else

oh yea... there's a song by Common called "I Used to Love Her"... i don't know what album it's on but that song speaks to me

I'd contribute, but I suffer from WBS (White Boy Syndrome). IE -- I believe that the only good hip hop is the hip hop that's no longer relevant EG, released before 1995.

Classic example phrase uttered by WBS patients:

"I don't like that commercial shit but I love me some old school"

;)

Sure they do, or it wouldn't sell like it does, and the majority of the artists would still be making the same kind of stuff they made 'back in the day'.

I really like the album "2001" from Dr Dre.
West coast/Gangsta, but it doesn't take it itself too seriously, lots of dark humor and light hearted bits in there. A lot of studio musician stuff on there instead of largely relying on samples, which is cool too.

agreed, quality album
