I'm bumping this old thread, as it had some info that I have questions about:

I was wondering if it's OK to leave the guitar with its strings all off overnight. I'm asking this because I left my guitar unstringed for about 2.5 hours when I cleaned the fretboard. Should my guitar be OK after leaving it unstringed for so long?

Why not create a NEW thread with your question? Sorry, I'm not the only one here who has a pet peeve about bumping 6 month old threads back up....

To answer your question, yes, your guitar should be fine.

Thanks for the info guys. That's good to hear.

That's exactly the opposite of what people say on all the other boards I'm on. On most forum's I've been to, the mods would rather a continuation of a topic in the same thread, rather than create new threads that would clutter the forum. But if this is how it is here, I'll adjust.

I never understood the whole getting angry at a bumped thread thing.

It's not like it hurts anything.

If the question were related to the original thread title (lemon oil) then it's not an issue. But your question is about an issue that's only slightly related. It's more clear in this case to start a new thread with your question.

That's more of what I was getting at. Asking if it's okay to leave strings on your guitar for more than a day is a different topic, only slightly related. He would have been better off, IMO, just starting a new thread rather than bringing back a 6-month old one. Wasn't trying to be mean, just that there has been a lot of dead threads being resurrected for no real reason lately. :squint:

*promises not to anger everyone again*

I tried that for years. I gave up. It's not possible. :)

sorry for the less-than-warm welcome, we're normally a pretty happy-goo-lucky bunch, but you happened to hit on a pet peeve after a spate of random bumps we've had lately. Not your fault, so don't worry abotu it. :)

Hi, sorry for the bump. I am a bit confused about the vast today's product
market and would appreciate a little guidance:

I need something to clean and hydrate my ebony fingerboard, and found this
interesting thread. But i am not sure about *which* concrete product i need
order, i am looking the best one.

So Dunlop kits seem to be appreciated here on SS.org, am i rigth? I was
thinking about ordering this for the fretboard:

Also i noticed their lemon oil:

Do i need both, or just one of them? Do you recommend me other / another
stuff or brand better?

I am about ordering their string conditioner, too:

I use Dr. Stringfellows lemon oil. But as long as it's lemon oil you should be fine. Just get the plain stuff, no need to get the fingerboard care kits or whatever if you're just looking to hydrate your board. So the dunlop lemon oil will work just fine.

About Dunlop lemon oil (Fretboard 65 Ultimate Lemon Oil), i just read in their website the following statement:

"Introducing Fretboard 65 Ultimate Lemon Oil—the latest addition to Dunlop’s
world-famous line of guitar care products and the logical evolution of the 01
Fingerboard Cleaner and 02 Fingerboard Deep Conditioner
"

So i just need to buy the lemon oil, right?

Thanks for the advises, although Dr. Stringfellows oil seems hard to find here in Europe...
