Hey!
I bought a Ibanez Tim Henson TOD10 a few days ago.
When I was gonna tighten the Tremolo springs then I noticed small chips, and paint over spray. I decided to look if there was more over the guitar and sure enough ut was, stuff like that is really disappointing to see on a new guitar (paid 1900 dollar for it)
But should I retur it back to the shop?

I don't personally see these quirks as returnable issues, but at the same time, $1900 is a lot of money and given how the namesake artist appears to care about his appearance, I wonder if he would be satisfied with this himself. I recommend you consider a return and spending your hard earned $1900 on a Prestige which is more likely to have better care and attention in assembly.

The fit on that electronics cavity cover is hilariously bad. At least it's easy to remove I guess.

I have two thoughts about this that might sound contradictory.
Indonesian and Chinese factory made guitars will often have issues like this regardless of price. Strandbergs made in Indonesia and seem to me to have worse QC.
If you bought it brand new and don't like it, return it.

Agreed. If it's not MIJ or MIA there's bound to be some cosmetic flaws, even on a $1,9K guitar. Maybe OP should see the guitar next time in person if they're worried about stuff like that. Of course I know that's not always possible, depending how the local distribution for a certain manufacturer is.

I would say that the only reason to not return it was if you liked the guitar enough to look past the $100 Amazon guitar paintjob. Since you made this thread with these concerns and didn't comment on enjoying the guitar otherwise, maybe you're leaning towards sending it back.

There's nothing wrong with refusing to take a company's B-stock.

I'd ask for some money back, if you like the guitar otherwise. I've had so many deal breaking structural flaws in the past that these few issues wouldn't keep me from keeping the guitar if i liked it...

Yeah, I've played the Indonesian guitar QC roulette game a few times now.

This is what happens with some frequency and why I won't buy Indonesian stuff, from any manufacturer, unless I go through Sweetwater. That way I can compare 2-3 in pictures and, worst case, return one for another.

It's all being made in the same 3 or 4 factories there and as far as I can tell they all are just as inconsistent.

I generally don't care much about country of origin anymore, other than Indonesia being the worst. Chinese-made guitars are frequently better.

I would add, anything hidden by cavity covers I wouldn't sweat, but anything else you're within your rights to return over if it bothers you. But this is what $1900 gets you from Indonesia.
