Is 10-56 enough for 26.5" and standard tuning?

Title says it all. Also, for a full step drop. I'm also considering 10-62's.

EDIT: Strings. This is about strings.

EDIT #2 some context: I generally use 11-52 on a 6 string in standard tuning with 24.75" scale.

Yes, will be fine, I've toted around with 9-46 for standard on a 26.5 and 24.5 and it's fine. It just depends what you like your strings to feel like under your finger tips and your picking technique will come into play too.

I use 10-56 on a 25.4" Mayones Regius 7 in B Standard and Drop A and like it.

If you would like them on 26.5" might tell you the tension calculator, where you can compare, with what you're used to:

Yes, because you can compare different gauges and scale lengths, and can even ask for recommendations. But it's only based on D'Addarrio strings.

So, when you use a different brand, you need to know, how they compare to D'Addarrio. Some brands have a different tension at the same gauge! Elixir for example have a higher tension and Earnie Ball Slinkies a slightly lower.

The reason seems to be the use of different steel cores, so it's mainly a matter of the wound strings.

The bad thing with 10-56s (and 10-46s on 6 strings) is how unbalanced it is. The 36 has high tension, then there is a big drop to the 46 and a bigger drop to the 56.

That's why the D'Addarrio XL set for 7-string come with a .59 instead of a .56 ... above mentioned tension calculator gives more insight on this.

A .056 for a low b is too floppy for me, and I use .009s and fanned frets. A .059 or .060 is better. With .010s, you might want to bump that up another notch.

There are some 10-59 sets... I like them. I use this gauge on my RAM 27". Works like a charm and allows me to drop to A without problem!
