Is EMG808 to 808X a direct swap?

Hi there.

I have an Ibanez RGIX28FEQM that I recently put 808Xs in and I feel the tone is somewhat thinner now. Not as chunky.

I was just wondering if there are any other electronics i need to replace in the guitar?
The guitar does not have a tone pot, just volume, pickup selecter and killswitch.

Maybe I actually prefer the original 808s, tho i higly doubt it.

Any tips or tricks?

If you're talking about the plastic housings, all of their other 8 string pickups with plastic housings will drop in and work.

I know what mean with the X's. I just put some in an RGA8 and I like them but I liked the Blackouts in it a little better. If you want thicker I'd try an 85-8, otherwise the 81 or possibly a regular 808 might do it for you. That's probably my next move for my guitar.
