The only reason to still use batteries is to isolate them from the power supply. I use this in the studio but otherwise just set them up plugged in. Funnily enough, the batteries in Boss pedals aren't drained if something is plugged into the DC plug (from what I've seen) So you can leave batteries in them no problems
