Mesa Mark IV or V.

My old Mark V had the best (and most adjustable) cleans on any amp I've ever owned or tried, period. This was only made better by the fact that the channel 3 Mark IV and IIc+ modes had my favorite lead/solo sounds :) I usually left it on Mark IV mode since it was the best balance for both rhythm and lead playing.

Marks are cool! Maybe a mesa Roadster/Roadking as well? Very nice cleans, and they have that recto feel.

I don't follow Dream Theater, but isn't Petrucci using Mark V also? Since you like his tone...

The clean sound in the first song is more from the guitar, a hollow body.

He used a Roadking for Suspended Animation, I believe. They're known for being extremely versatile with cleans and distortion. I'd imagine the Roadster, Mark IV, and Mark V could work just as well.

If you're looking for more chime, try a compressor before you dump that EVH. You may regret it. I have no trouble getting all kinds of clean tones. Or 4 cable it with something. As for that gain, the Blue Channel with definately be closer than red but there's no imitating that Mark.

The line 6 DT amps have really nice cleans and provide different distortion sounds. There is a anderton/robchapman review of the dt head and Combo in YouTube.

Also they are quite cheap for the sounds you get.

I have a mesa quad preamp. It is a combination of Mark amps and has the best cleanchannel imho. The quads can be found rather cheap in eBay.

I don't have any experience with them, but the PRS Archon is supposed to have incredible cleans and a mean drive section. The demos sound pretty amazing.
