I'm quite a fan of the jcm800 sound when using a tube screamer as a boost, but I'm curious if it will be able to cut through the other guitarist in my band.
He's using an engl fireball. any info is appreciatiated

You should be able to bury him under almost any circumstances.

Of all the amps I have owned, very few could compete with the JCM800 when it comes to cutting through. It's just so damned perfect in live situations.

The old Fireball (which is actually 60W) is widely known for not cutting through at all, which is one of the reasons they made the new Fireball 100 with a modified midrange.

I bet the JCM800 with mids at 0 would still cut through better than the Fireball, so no worries :)

Marshalls are some of the best amps for cutting through the mix. You'll most likely drown him out, considering how scooped the Engl Powerball/Fireball amps are.
