Well the marshall won't get fender cleans, and I don't know if Vai ever used fender amps for cleans so I don't know that the legacy will get them either; the JSX, satch used marshalls before he got that peavey gig.

Go try a traynor YCS100H - under a grand brand new, 3 channels, great cleans, great drive, $600 used.
