I tested one of these out at the AES convention last fall up in NYC. It's a pretty awesome piece of gear. They had a Marshall DSL2000 running into this thing, master maxed out. The sound out of the headphones was pretty amazing.

I talked to the guys with the company for a little bit, asking if they've heard of the AxeFX. They said that they have, and have sold this to some customers of the AxeFX. They said they ended up getting rid of the AxeFX to run their standard tube head without cabs.

I really dig it, it's just ridiculously expensive.

When you can load custom impulses into the Axe, it just seems like there's not much point  It can hold more than the Axe, but I don't know why you'd need more than 10 custom impulses on top of the ones already in there. I mean, would be good for a studio with tube amps, but for every day folks with the Axe it doesn't seem practical.

Indeed.

I don't own or know what all you Axe Fx owners known, so help educate me...

can the Axe fx model all the same cabinets and mics? distance, axis, ect?

As for the Tube amp benefit, yea, it would be well worth it I'd think....
finally do away with loadboxes that just don't work the way you want them to.

It was only a matter of time until someone made one of these. I've been looking for something of the sort, personally, though in the end, I think I'll check out an Axe before I go for one of these.

No, the Axe doesn't go in THAT deep. Well, there are mic sims you can throw in front of the cab sims in the same block, but when you take an impulse, if you're creating them yourself, it models the mic you used.

I'm sure it goes WAY more in depth than the Axe, but I'm sure that most people can easily find impulses that will work for them, as opposed to having this huge thing

Just Googled it, and so far it's only available in Europe, for the price of 1500 Euros

Like I said, would be cool for a studio, but I think I could find something to greatly improve my tone for less than 1500 Euros

Holy :poop:. I'd have a hard time justifying spending a little less than twice what I could get a lightly used Axe for on something that only encompasses part of the the Axe could do, deeper editing available or not. Especially when software exists that can do the same thing. Would be cool to have it as a standalone unit, but not $2k cool.

They aim the pro market. I'm french and i have followed some discussions about this unit. It's really beyond the Axe. They have a lot of clients ... sound engineers specialized in live recording or broadcast, vintage/rare amp owners, studios.

I think that it could help the live venue tremendously.... allowing the sound guy to use the PA like he wants to. using the spacial area, instead of trying to always compensate for directional distortion using cabinets....

plus, it's better to spend $3000 on the unit rather than buying cabs and cabs, using mics alone that cost upwards of $4000 a piece, just my 2 cents

The sound clips on the site sounded seriously bland to me... either way, I'm with JJ. This thing does a small part of what the Axe-Fx does, and costs more than the Axe-Fx. Given how absolutely awesome the Axe-Fx sounds, and the possibilities to use other IR's than the stock ones, I definately couldn't justify the price.

Actually, it's quite interesting... but pricey as fuck, considering. I'd think it would be more as a solution to plugging an actual head into it (hence, the "use your head moniker", kids :squint:), not at all an add-on for something like a Fractal. Having a load/attenuator on it, and then sim'ing a cab/mic/room scheme, then acting as an DI interface... which actually would be a neat option to those wanting to keep their 5150 or whatever, and ridding the PITA that is cabs and mics. Now, about that price. See, logic goes, I could buy a Hot Plate, or something similar, and a Muse Receptor and load it up with cab sims., plus whatever else I wanted to load into it.
