The second Heavymachine build is almost ready to start! The top is choosen: koa!
Only an advice: which position you prefer?
Consider that the template is 5/16"(8mm) larger than the real shape!

First one. I dig how the grain flow focuses into the (future) protruding neck.

I'd do the 2nd one, but turn it around and have the neck pointing where the tail is in that pic, either way though it's a good looking top set.

I'm glad it's not my decision. Both orientations look fantastic.

The 1st orientation follows the curves of the body perfectly, while the grain in the 2nd intersects the bouts in a very eye-pleasing way.

Beautiful top, man.

Thank you for the advices! It seems the second one is more pleasant to the eyes!
The only flaw is the knot in the left horn!

I wouldn't overthink it buddy. I bet you had an initial thought when you first saw the pics.

Go with that!

You may not like the knot that much at the moment because you want everything to be absolutely perfect (which is understandable) but trust me: if you prefer the 2nd one in every other aspect but that knot, you'll regret it eventually if you go with the first one because of that reason.

btw..there's a knot in the left horn on either one sooo....

Out there, somewhere
I personally like #2, but that top is amazing no matter how you orient it so you really can't go wrong :yesway:

First, it seems to draw your eye inwards towards the centre. On the other hand that top is amazing and it's gonna look awesome no matter what! :yesway:

One more for the 2nd, but it really doesn't matter which way you look at this stunning piece of wood
