There's been talk of these LAG's for quite some time now, good to see they're FINALLY materializing.

Too bad the US won't see them in all likeliness.

Are they really difficult to get hold of in the US? Damn, that sucks - LAG do make some very decent guitars.

LAG only recently started US distribution, as in within the next few months the very first LAG's will be in the US. Even then, they're ONLY marketing their lower end Korean/Chinese acoustics.

There is still no LAG electric guitar distributors/importers in North America.

There aren't too many European dealers who will ship to the US.

I've been dreaming for years that Thoman would start. They'd have a nice chunk of my money if they did, since they always seem to have a good selection of Framus guitars.

That sucks - hopefully they'll change that situation for you guys.

I've got an Arkane A200ST and for a £300 plank it really is a good piece of kit - I'd certainly compare it favourably to anything else in the price range, which holds true for the more expensive models as well.

As far as this Stephan Forte sig goes...I guess it's facing some stiff competition in that bracket and is very much an acquired taste but I'll try and track one down through Barnes and Mullins come May to see what it's like in the flesh - looks good on paper although I've got no idea what the radius is I would imagine something in the 16-17" (430mm) area.

The pickup selector switch and the knobs are in a stupid position, but other than that it looks cool. A model with a fully scalloped maple fretboard would have me :yum:

i wouldn't say it's "stupid" at all. it is a signature model guitar after all, and the knob and switch locations on these were designed for Stephan's playing style.

i would probably find this configuration really comfy as it's similar to what i spec'd out on my KxK.

i switch back and forth between pickups alot while soloing, so i need to have the switch right near my pinky. and the knobs need to be placed in a position where a trem bar won't be blocking them. my KxK is the only guitar i own where everything is exactly where it should be for my playing style.

The neck pickup could have been much closer to the neck..................................

LAG had U.S. distribution briefly about a decade ago. I know, because I owned one of their RG-style guitars. It was a pretty nice guitar, actually, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. Their distribution network here wasn't very good, and they didn't do much to market the guitars. Their French-made guitars are seriously expensive, and that's a tough market niche to break into.

I had heard that, but after about a year or so of trying to track one down, and not running into anyone who had actually purchased in the US, I just wrote it off as a myth.

All the ones I've seen in the US have been purchased via eBay.

JUST BOUGHT THE LAST ONE REMAINING IN FRANCE BEFORE THE 2010 JULY DELIVERY...

a little background :

according to the people i spoke to these guitars are made in a very small quantity. All the guitars for the French market which are going to be delivered on the 7th of May are already sold and i got the last one for the 27th of May delivery.

The following delivery will be July 12th since in June it is UK's turn to receive it.

a looks like there aren't that many around, so finding a shop to try it out might be tricky...

yep : i never tried one out..so this is a stab in the dark!!!! wish me luck!!!

I read on a french forum that the first delivery was composed of 20 guitars only.
I don't know about England and the rest of the world.
Price:1259€
That is a lot but the price is tagged between LTD and ESP 7 string guitars here.

yeah, even for France there aren't that many.

it is a 7 string guitar but a bit different form ESp / Ibby..etc..not everyone can say i have a LAG stephan forte, whereas practically everyone can have an Ibby / Schecter / ESP / Fender...7 string axe...

so that's pretty cool.

i have my reserve on the 3 way switch and volume pot location, but i am open minded (and bad player!!!)

having 27 frets will push the neck pickup closer to the bridge pickup.

Yeah I know, what I mean is that there's some wood between the 27th fret and the neckpickup. It's possible to place it a bit closer. But I don't know if that will make any difference.
