Hi!
Could someone please help determine whether this Ibanez is legit? Case seems different from what I've seen from other sellers (yet it is advertised as original).
Thank you!

From these photos only, it looks legit. I have a case like that that came with my S540 back in 1995. Ask for more photos and share. I remember seeing this guitar advertised but don't remember where...

I have a case like that for an old UV, too. Suppose it's not the original style, but it fits really well.

The bridge looks super clean.... Judging by the pictures it looks legit. Did the seller give a you a picture of the serial number? You wouldn't have to share that but I'd look it up if you're curious about legitimacy of the guitar.

Thank you! Any idea of how high this one should be priced?

Guitar - from 1500 to 2000. I've payed 1100 for mine about 2 or 3 years ago, but she had paint dents in the back at the edges, almost all over... she's in caring hands now...

Case - no more than 100.

My numbers are in Euros, but in Dollar should be about the same...

That looks like a JEM case from the 90s which can be actually worth something.

Those cases are weak, made of cardboard or something similar. The guy (you?) who's trying to sell that one for $399 is completely out of his mind or very high on drugs. I can buy better and stronger cases from Gator for less than €100 or a fantastic gigbag for a bit more. That case is worth about €50 in that used condition. I have one of those.

Not my listing and I agree with you. A modern case will outperform that but you know how the blues lawyers are when it comes to ”period correct”.

Guitar looks legit and looks really clean, especially that trem.

Ive never seen one come with that case though. I had a '98 with a different OHSC with it. But there's a chance early ones could've used that case.

For ibanez legitness I always check
1. Trem (knockoffs NEVER use edges)
2. Serial number/stamp fuckery.
3. Pickup routing/placement
4. Headstock shape

Also a lot of knockoffs will use MII/MIK features and try to label them as made in Japan,.that's usually a good indicator.

This one looks like a museum piece
