Hello folks!

Since everything posted here sounds bloody awesome, I've been a bit hesistant to post. But I finally mustered up the courage, so here is my plead for help :)

So, I'm trying to create a solo-album-thinge. Currently in the writing phase, but in between the small spurts of inspiration I try to work on the sound and mix.

It's getting better and better, but it still sounds very much like a home recording. It feels kinda small, and the guitars are a bit muddy. Not enough "chugga".

Any C&C appreciated!

Here are some samples of how things sound at the moment:

and a short clip of my latest mix:

Gear:
I currently use my Macbook Pro i7, an alesis io|2 soundcard, Logic 9, Guitar Rig 4, EZDrummer (DFH kit). My guitar is an Ibanez RG-7 with stock pickups, tuned in 7 string standard and sometimes Drop-A. The bass i use is a 5 string Yamaha RBX765A with active pickups.

Thanks in advance!

The guitars have a bit too much gain or too much compress. Lower one.

The snare could use a bit of body in the 200-350 area and maybe a hair of volume.

The Kick needs a bit of EQ. Try scooping out a bunch of the mids and then add volume to taste.

After that Your mix should be a lot clearer.

Thanks for the advice! I applied them and a bit more I found to this:

Not perfect, but definitely in the right direction :)
(the songwriting might be a bit crappy, as this is mostly to get the sound right)
