So what started out as my main guitar that I bought brand new back in '07 that I put aside once I got my RG550 has once again become my main, with looks and playability better than ever!
Short story behind this guitar:
A good 10 years ago when I was in school tearing it up on the sax I was "enlightened" by a family friend who visited one day to introduce me to electric guitar. He played an LTD MH-201 (See-through Purple QM) through some old peavey half-stack. It was probably the amazing thing I had ever seen (at the time).
Naturally I decided I needed to get into guitar. After a few years of playing on a First Act ME-301 I figured enough was enough and that I needed to upgrade! I had grown to like the way the LTD felt and played, but I wanted something better. I settled with the LTD MH-400 (now discontinued). My only issue was that there weren't any ESP/LTD distributers nearby. So I decided to join my father who happens to be a truck driver along for one of his routine trips to Calgary in order to get a chance to hopefully demo one.
Made the trip in about 3 days and was able to try one out. I was blown away pretty much as soon as I came into contact with it.
After coming back I rushed to get my first job as a dishwasher at some crappy family restaurant so that I could start saving. Eventually ended up buying one keeping in mind that I would one day replace the trem system.
I know that guitars are just "tools" to get the job done, however I do feel quite sentimental over this one. Helped me get through some pretty rough times and even withstood being thrown out the door by my mom (foreign parents :S). Neck is still straight and the thing still looks pretty mint!
After picking up my RG550 this past summer (also an amazing guitar) I was tempted to sell the LTD to fund some other equipment. On the verge of selling I decided against it and purchased myself an original Floyd Rose system for it along with a few other cosmetic upgrades .
I'll just let the photos do the talking :
She really is a thing of beauty! Still needs some intonation work but I figured I would get these up here .
PS if anyone has any questions about installation please feel free to give me a shout.
Cheers!
