Just got back from Vai in Aspen. I was lucky enough to catch him after the show.
I also got to meet Dave Weiner! That cat was cool!

Wife hated to see him sign the front. Y'alls thoughts?

My first thought is, "Wow, how the hell does that intonate?!"

My second thought is, nice! I'm glad you got to meet the dude and get a signature.

Just be aware you'll INSTANTLY rub that off if you play the guitar - if you want to keep it there, get it clearcoated.

Yep, all that.

Also, interesting how Steve changed his signature:

Cool, that you had such a great experience. I have to agree with your wife though. If I ever have a guitar signed, I'll ask them to do it on the back of the headstock.

On a guitar with a floating bridge get them to sign the back plate. You can cover it with clear Mylar tape so it doesn't rub off, and if you ever decide to sell the guitar you can swap it with a non-signed plate and keep your memory.

If I had to get a guitar signed, I'd have it done on the back of the headstock. you still get the hypithetical signature value but don't deface your instrument.

Haha yah. It intonates with light gauge and drop C. I was in the middle of an overhaul with this guitar. I just threw in some old parts for a front to get her signed. Thinking about taking the sig off. I just feel bad if I do. Thanks.

oh and actually, the entire guitar has already been wet sanded. So the entire guitar could use a nice clear coat. hehe
