Mackie HD1221, Loud enough for live use?

I am thinking if picking up a mackie loudspeaker for live use. It will be used mostly for monitoring but sometimes my band might play at a venue that has horrible FOH monitors that can only be used for vocals. This means that the loudspeaker might have to become my only source of sound. Is the HD1221 loud enough on its own? Or would the HD1531 be a better choice?

No it won't, you need more speaker for the sound to carry in my experience. The HD1221 was nothing like up to it for me.
