They're fine decks for beginners who want to play some fun, casual matches. Another good place to start is the "Duel of the Planeswalkers" games which are available on PC, XB1 and PS4.

Haven't played since 7th Edition when I was a kid. Started playing again in January this year along with my roommates. My, the game has changed.

I play MTGO as well. Almost exclusively, really. I'm SquareWhite there.

Not going, sadly. Set looks pretty dope from a limited POV, with power level trickling down the rarities. Lots of cubeability too in the new mechanics.

Sadly, I'm saving for homebrewing equipment and my leisure funds for the month went to Yooka Laylee. :(

Alas no. I haven't played Standard in a couple years at this point, as I decided to forego it while attending school.

EDH, on the other hand, well... I have 13 decks...

So I've built Modern infect and modern Knightfall. And just do not feel like going to a game store to play with people I don't know. I'll hold on to them should I meet new nerd bros.

Big ol necro bump, but I'm thinking of picking up a starter deck for Commander, and been learning with MTG Arena; for those who have played long term, is there anything that ends up being "noob specific"?

So far I've had best success with Black, although one of my White matches had me come back from an 8-20 margin, only to get the guy down to -13 without losing any more! Red also seems to be more aggro than say Blue/Green, but it also has a good chunk of instant/sorcery from what I've seen which isn't really ideal to me. Maybe it's just that specific deck in game, and by maybe I mean most definitely. White seems to be situational where its short term losses while you stack and suddenly turn it all around in like, 2 hands.

I haven't bought cards in yeeeears, gave away everything except 6 solid decks to a friend's kid. The coolest things I've still got are got a few cards I traded from a high school buddy who was a very serious player and died in a hiking accident right after graduation. Mox Diamond, Grim Monolith, Tolarian Academy. The first two are quite valuable anymore but I'd never sell them. He also had a number of OG moxes, dual lands, and other super valuable stuff. Always wondered what became of his collection.

Ah, well that explains where the YT channel got their name from, I figured Tolarian Academy was where certain figure cards studied or something in universe.

I've still been playing Arena, and while it's a decent learning experience, it's also not ideal because I'm playing a computer who is functioning for a win condition at all times. I think in terms of win functionality, it's gone:

Black
Green
White

Red keeps getting stonewalled by blues draw abilities, they're just neverending and it's why they're the anti-fun committee.
