The best Megadeth album is Return to Metalopolis.

Sorry. Not trolling but Chris Poland> Dave Mustaine IMO.

Also, if you ever saw them live, Chris NEVER played the same solo twice.

Also, he is super nice (Marty too) and Dave is a jerkstore.

Ok, OT: Peace Sells. Landmark record. And the vid!

"This IS the news!"

I saw Meg once and they had a barricade erected, you know to keep kids six feet away from the stage, which was only four feet high.

Security were being total dickheads as was par for the course at the time, and during one of Chris' solos, he came up behind the fattest, jerkiest security dude and was holding his guitar so that he could warble his whammy bar on the back of dude's head.

The dude turned his head around slowly like, "What in the hell is that on the back of my head?" and of course, seeing that it was not a kid on the stage, couldn't do anything about it.

Oh, how we all laughed at him and pointed at him!

Best... showmanship... ever.

You could tell he was pissed at Davey that show.

And you're right, tedtan- I was being facetious. I picked Peace Sells! Although Killing is my Business.. And Business is Good was a good record too...

There is obviously more to Peace vs RIP than Marty or Poland, but when I listen to songs like this it's clear that Poland's playing is lightyears ahead of Marty. Poland was and is a better fusion guitarist than he ever got to show in Megadeth, the same goes for Alex Skolnick who never really stretches his legs with Testament.

Poland's phrasing is just wild.

Rust In Peace. This isn't even a question to me, Tornado of Souls is by far my favorite Megadeth song (the chorus riff is a turbo groove).

Other songs I love are Hangar 18 and Take No Prisoners

Same here, Tornado of Souls might be my favourite Megadeth tune ever. RIP all the way.

Rust In Peace for me, although both are my top two favorite albums with The System Has Failed being right behind them.

RIP has that phenomenal technicality in it where it's technical stuff, but still flows very well and never once overshadows the music itself. Songs like Holy Wars, Hanger 18, Take No Prisoners, and Five Magicks are so goddamn sick and even though I really do not like Dave at all, I will have that album on repeat all day and not be bored. Plus RIP is the first Megadeth album I've gotten to listen to, so that is a factor as well.

Even "Return to Metalopolis" was pretty badass.

I think Chris Poland's better too if you take all his non-megadeth work into account, but when it comes to stuff with Megadeth it's like that other poster said about choosing favorite children or whatever. Stuff like the Tornado of Souls ranks high among my favorite guitar solos. He also managed to give a lot more life to CTE, Youthanasia and even Cryptic Writings than they probably would have had otherwise.

Even though Peace Sells has my favorite Megadeth song on it (My Last Words), it can't beat RIP. That album is just unbelievable the whole way through.

I agree that Rust in Peace is more well-rounded, I just think CP has a way more distinctive tone & note choice than MF. Opinions, though :fawk:
